SCW Chief meets hackathon teams

Manama, Nov.13 (BNA): Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Secretary-general Hala Al-Ansari has today met the twelve teams which took part in the first scientific women’s hackathon, which aims to encourage competition and innovation.
The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) launched the competition titled “Challenge and Innovation”, in co-operation with the Bahrain Polytechnic.
The hackathon was held as part of activities and events associated with the Bahraini Women's Day, which was dedicated this year to celebrating women in the field of higher education and future sciences. Certificates of participation were distributed to members of teams.
The SCW chief stressed keenness on networking all teams participating in the competition with the relevant authorities in different sectors, so as to provide adequate channels to develop ideas and required support for the adoption and implementation of projects on the ground, and to ensure the sustainability and development of those projects.
She announced that the council adopt application Your Guide (Murshidak) which was among the twelve projects competing in the first scientific women’s hackathon. She stressed the importance of the electronic application which promotes family counseling and social protection services in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
SCW director-general for policies and development Shaikha Deena bint Rashid Al-Khalifa said that the scientific hackathon initiative would be assessed and developed to serve as a platform to encourage women and hone their skills to use artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and contribute to the digital economic sectors.
