SCH Ueges Public to Participate in GCC Health Media Competition

Doha , June 15 (QNA) - The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) encouraged Saturday the public to participate in the 5th Gulf Excellence Award in the health media, launched by Executive Board of Health Ministers' Council for GCC States. This year's competition will be held under the title of "Physical Activity." Participants convey a message related to health using mediums like Facebook, YouTube, on-line blog or Television and Radio Public Service Announcements. Director of Communication and Media Department at the SCH Jassim Ibrahim Fakhro said that the prize encourages talents to produce distinguished media messages that would help raise awareness and increase the standard of health media. This year has seen the addition of New media as one of the mediums that participants can use, Fakhro said. The step came in recognition of the growing influence of new media outlets like Facebook in advertising. General Director of the Executive Board of GCC Health Ministers' Council Dr. Tawfiq bin Ahmad Khouja said that the prize will be $50,000. The selection criteria of the winner will depend on how clear is his/her message, given that it was related to the importance of remaining physically active. Qatar won three prizes in last year's edition. (QNA)
