Sadyr Zhaparov receives newly appointed resident coordinator of UN system in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Oct. 6, 2022 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov received the newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic Antje Grawe. At the beginning of the meeting, Antje Grawe presented her credentials to the head of state. Sadyr Zhaparov, congratulating Antje Grawe on her appointment to this position, expressed gratitude to the UN system in Kyrgyzstan for the assistance provided to the country since independence. He noted the high level of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and UN agencies, spoke about the institutional reforms being carried out in the country. The president emphasized that the Kyrgyz Republic adhered and is ready to continue to be committed to the observance of the universally recognized goals and principles enshrined in the UN Charter. In turn, Resident Coordinator of the UN system in Kyrgyzstan, Antje Grawe, congratulated Kyrgyzstan on the 30th anniversary of membership in the Organization, stressing that this creates a unique opportunity to further deepen and expand cooperation. In addition, she highly appreciated the initiatives of Kyrgyzstan in the framework of the resolution adopted at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly on declaring 2022 the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development, declaring 2022 in Kyrgyzstan the Year of Protection of Mountain Ecosystems and Climate Resilience, and holding a national tree planting campaign "Jashyl ​​Muras". Antje Grawe reaffirmed the UN's support for the promotion of reforms and programs for the socio-economic development of the country under the leadership of Sadyr Zhaparov. During the meeting, the Resident Coordinator of the UN system in Kyrgyzstan expressed condolences to the head of state in connection with the casualties as a result of the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border and the readiness of the UN system to continue providing necessary and urgent assistance to the affected areas of the Batken region.
