Sadyr Zhaparov receives country's Business Ombudsman Robin Ord-Smith

Bishkek, March 9, 2021. / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov received on Monday Robin Ord-Smith, an authorized person for the protection of rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of business entities (Business Ombudsman) of the country. The sides exchanged opinions on current work of the Business Ombudsman Institute and on measures to support entrepreneurs, the press service of the Kyrgyz president reported. The head of state expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the business ombudsman on protection of legal rights of entrepreneurs, noting his special role in support and protection of business from illegal or inappropriate actions of state bodies. Sadyr Zhaparov also thanked Robin Ord-Smith for applying his international experience in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for its support in establishing the Business Ombudsman Institute. The Kyrgyz leader added that after the constitutional reform, the status of the Investment Promotion and Protection Agency will be raised, which will not only support foreign investors, but also local entrepreneurs. Business Ombudsman Robin Ord-Smith said that the number of complaints from entrepreneurs about the activities of state bodies in the country has recently increased. Most of them concern excessive and unreasonable interference of fiscal, law enforcement and judicial bodies in the work of entrepreneurs. He also added with regret that often state bodies make some decisions without prior consultation with entrepreneurs and the recommendations of the Business Ombudsman Institute are ignored. Presdient Zhaparov assured of his full support of the mission of the Business Ombudsman Institute to protect the legitimate rights of entrepreneurs and investors.
