Sadyr Zhaparov names condition for participation in presidential elections

Bishkek, Oct. 19, 2020 / Kabar /. Acting President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov in an interview with Russia 24 called the condition for participation in the presidential elections, RIA Novosti reported. According to the current legislation of the country, the person acting as the head of the republic cannot participate in elections. “At the moment, the parliament is preparing amendments to the legislation on parliamentary and presidential elections. If, as a result of these changes, the law is allowed to participate in elections, I will go. But it is too early to talk about it, a decision on this issue has not yet been made,” Zhaparov said. Sadyr Zhaparov became acting president of Kyrgyzstan after resignation of Sooronbay Jeenbekov on Oct. 16. Speaker of the Parliament Kanat Isayev refused to serve as a president and recently appointed Prime Minister of the country Sadyr Zhaparov became the acting president of the country.
