Doha, January 09 (QNA) - HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand visited Education City at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF).
A welcoming delegation was led by Director of Communications at QF Haya bint Khalifa Al-Nassr. The Thai Princess observed a presentation outlining the vision and mission of QF, before viewing a 3D scale model of the Qatar Foundation site, including future construction projects.
During lunch, gifts were exchanged between the Thai Princess and Dr. Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, President of Hamad bin Khalifa University, and Vice-President for Education at QF.
Later, Her Royal Highness continued her tour with a visit to Qatar Academy, Awsaj Institute of Education, and the Faculty of Islamic Studies.
The Thai Princess, who has an impressive background in academia, took a keen interest in learning more about QF.
In Thailand, she is often referred to as The Princess of Technology , or The Princess of Information Technology , because of her wide-ranging interest and expertise in the application of science to the goal of national development.
Her Royal Highness, who is a history graduate and holds a Doctorate in Educational Development, said "Qatar Foundation is doing a wonderful job in education, science and community development, so I wanted to see what they have been doing here. QF s work is impressive and I am planning to send some of my colleagues here if possible. I like education because it is the means to give more opportunities to people. If people have more knowledge, they then will be more capable of future achievements. I think QF is full of hard-working people who are all very committed to reach to the other corner of the world and I hope to come back to Doha again in the future."
The Thai Princess will conclude her official trip today with visits to Mathaf Arab Museum of Modern Art and the Arab and Islamic Heritage Library at QF. (QNA)
