ROTA Ramadan Project Refurbishes Needy Family's Home
Doha, July 29 (QNA) - Reach Out To Asia's (ROTA) volunteers renovated the home of a needy family based in Al Shamal as part of its Ramadan 2013 Project, the Doha-based non-profit organisation said.
The volunteers gave a completely new look to the home in a three-day renovation project, sponsored by Oxy Qatar, and held from July 21 to 23.
A well-established activity of ROTA's Seventh Annual Ramadan Project, the ROTA Ramadan Home Makeover saw volunteers carrying out essential maintenance and repairs, painting and assembling and installing new furniture to transform the house into a new family home.
ROTA collaborated with Qatar Foundation's Facilities Management Directorate which provided engineers, architects and contractors to help repair the house.
The beneficiary family excited by their renovated home said, "We can never repay the generosity shown to us by ROTA. Our family simply could not afford to do the work that ROTA volunteers did. Now we will have a home to be proud of."
ROTA Executive Director Essa Al Mannai said, "Renovating and redecorating a home is a great opportunity for us to do something that really makes a difference to the quality of life for people who are less fortunate."
Volunteer Sara Karim said, "I have always believed in giving back to the community and was happy to help a family in need of a better home."
ROTA a non-profit organization which operates under the auspices of Qatar Foundation was established in December 2005 in Doha by HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
It provides high quality and relevant primary and secondary education, encouraging relationships among communities, creating safe learning environments and restoring education in crisis affected areas across Asia and around the world. (QNA)
