Reform, Rehabilitation Directorate receives ICRC representative

Manama, June 23 (BNA): The General Directorate of Reformation and Rehabilitation has received the new representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Abdelkrim Al- Arkoubi, at its headquarters in Jau area. Director-General of Reformation and Rehabilitation Lieutenant-Colonel Abdullah Ali welcomed ICRC representative, and discussed with him explored ways to enhance joint cooperation. Head of Remand Centre Major Mazen Al Timimi also received the ICRC representative, who visited the centre in the Dry Dock as part of his visits to a number of centres of the department following his recent appointment as the committee’s representative for Bahrain. The General Directorate expressed readiness to cooperate with ICRC through holding training courses for its personnel to achieve joint goals, mainly the protection of the right of detainees in accordance to the law. ICRC representative lauded the directorate’s significant improvement on all levels, which, he said, reflected the Ministry of Interior’s keen interest in this aspect and keenness on cooperating with regional and international committees and organisations.
