Reform, Rehabilitation Centre celebrates GCC Inmates Week

Manama, Dec 22 (BNA): The General Directorate of Reform and Rehabilitation held a celebration ceremony marking the "Fourth GCC Inmates Week" held in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries under the theme themed "Together to achieve reform" on December 20-24 December. Interior Undersecretary Maj-Gen Khalid Al-Absi patronized the celebration ceremony in the presence of Nawaf Al-Ma'awda, the Ombudsman, and GCC delegation participating in the Gulf event. Reform and Rehabilitation Acting Director, in his speech, extended gratitude to the Interior Minister for his constant follow up to promote the role of reform and rehabilitation in assisting the inmates. He also pointed the Interior Undersecretary's efforts in the same area. He said that the Reform and Rehabilitation Centre works according to an accurate system that combines the implementation of law and the process of reform and rehabilitation. He stressed the commitment to laws and conventions related to inmates' rights by continuously developing the related legislation and the institutions infrastructure, as well as rehabilitating staff working in this field, with the aim of reintegrating the inmates into the community to contribute to serving the country as good citizens. The Gulf delegation and disciplined inmates were honoured. The Gulf delegates were toured the inmates visiting centre to learn about the services provided for them and their visiting families.
