RCO secretary general participates in WHS Global Consultation

Geneva, Oct. 20 (BNA): Upon directives from His Majesty the King's Personal Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, RCO Secretary General Dr. Mustafa Sayed headed the Kingdom of Bahrain's participating delegation in Global Consultation on World Humanitarian Summit for the first World Humanitarian Summit (WHS), set to take place on 23-24 May 2016 in Istanbul, in the presence of a number of kings, leaders and organisations responsible for relief and humanitarian work.
The summit addressed WHS key themes about the importance of supporting humanitarian work, support millions of refugees and victims of natural disasters and wars, with a focus on human dignity, safe environment to reduce the risks of working in this important humanitarian sector and cooperation among stakeholders to create a reliable system that can deliver aid.
Several minister and officials spoke at the summit, including Under-Secretary-General and Emergency Relief Coordinator (USG/ERC) Stephen O'Brien who highlighted the importance of sending a message to the world that shows the importance of providing the best services for men, women and children who went through difficult circumstances, stressing the importance of teamwork in order to serve humanity in this area.
Swiss Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter underlined everyone's commitment to overcome the challenges of changing the image behind the human suffering.
WHS aims to shed light on the challenges facing humanity, build a better future for everyone. The Kingdom of Bahrain has contributed over the past two years in the preparation for the summit, through holding a meeting for charities to review their suggestions and participate in the summit preparatory meetings.
Everyone praised the role of the Kingdom of Bahrain's leadership, government and people, its speedy delivery of relief materials and contribution to the development of the affected countries, while maintaining a degree of respect for employees, where RCO is considered a role model in humanitarian work.
The summit was attended by Plenipotentiary Permanent Representative to UN in Geneva Dr. Yusuf AbdulKarim Bucheeri and RCO Director of Planning and Projects Ebrahim Al-Dossary were present.
