RasGas Wins Cooperation Council Prize for the Best Environmental Activities

Doha, February 24 (QNA) - RasGas Company Limited announced Sunday that it has recently awarded the GCC Prize for the Best Environmental Activities as the best industrial establishment which comply with the environmental standards. RasGas said in a statement that the award adds new achievement to the company's successes in the field of environment, noting that the prize is awarded to one of the industrial enterprises operating in one of the GCC countries, which extends its commitment to the environmental conditions and standards for a period of not less than five consecutive years. Director-General of RasGas Hamad Rashid al-Muhannadi said that the company participates actively in the sustainable development process in Qatar, noting that RasGas had invested thoroughly in projects that aims at reducing emissions and enhancing waste management. He noted that RasGas had confirmed commitment to the environment by developing the old combustion sources in the company in order to meet the new limit set by the Ministry of Environment for nitrogen oxides in the facilities that were established before 2005. The award was received by Director of the Environmental Affairs at RasGas Hassan Ibrahim during a reception held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the patronage of the GCC Environment Ministers. RasGas is one of Qatar s leading energy companies and one of the most innovative and successful businesses in the global liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry. RasGas oversees and manages all the operations associated with seven LNG trains, two sales gas production facilities, helium production facilities, major shipping contracts and global commercial partnerships.
