Rainfall preparations stepped up in Bahrain

Manama, Nov.23 (BNA): Preparations are in full swing ahead of the rain season in Bahrain. Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdalla Khalaf chaired a key meeting with senior officials and reviewed precautionary preparations. The session was attended by undersecretaries, assistant-undersecretaries, municipal general directors and other ministry officials. Coordination has been stepped up between relevant directorates in charge of sanitary sewage and roads, in addition to the four municipalities. People affected by rainfall are requested to alert the ministry on hotlines 17671310 (Muharraq Municipality), 80001855 (Capital Municipality), 33355388 (Southern Municipality) and 33311530 and 33838425 (Northern Municipality), in addition to the Municipalities Affairs Directorate on 80001810. The ministers said that 350 rainwater stagnation points has so far been checked, pointing out that the priority, in case of rainfall, would be given to the traffic, sewage network, power plants, hospitals, schools and health centres. "The pre-emptive preparations came at the directives of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa", he said, paying tribute to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier for his follow-up.
