RAF Completes Construction of Muslim Village in Sri Lanka
Doha, June 30 (QNA) - The Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has completed the construction of a residential village in Sri Lanka as part of the foundation's projects to address disasters and relocate the displaced.
RAF Director-General Ayed bin Dbassan Al Qahtani said that the foundation built 200 houses for the poor Muslim families in Sri Lanka. The total cost of the construction was QR2.6 million and was donated by Qatari women.
On the reasons for choosing this project, Al Qahtani said that Sri Lanka has witnessed over the past months a series of natural disasters making its villages one of the most affected areas, adding that Muslims there are facing terrible human and social conditions which forced them to live in plastic bags.
It is worth mentioning that a Qatari delegation representing all Qatari charities and humanitarian associations made an inspection visit to many poor areas in Sri Lanka to assess the situation there. (QNA)
