Quake survivors to heat up with pocket heaters sent by Japanese people
AGRI (A.A) - November 23, 2011 - Turkish quake survivors will heat up with pocket heaters sent by Japanese people after two recent earthquakes that hit the eastern province of Van.
Japanese author and guide Ayumi Iwasaki has launched an aid campaign for Turkish quake survivors after Japanese doctor Atsushi Miyazaki lost his life in the magnitude-5.6 earthquake that rocked Van.
Within the scope of the aid campaign, Japanese people have sent 1,500 pocket heaters and blankets for Turkish quake survivors.
Japanese author and guide Ayumi Iwasaki visited Dogubayazit town of the eastern province of Van after doctor Miyazaki died in the quake, and met Turkish nature photographer Gokmen Onay.
Iwasaki launched a blog after returning to Japan, and sent the pocket heaters and blankets collected within the scope of the campaign to Gokmen Onay.
A person can pull the fuse on the pocket heaters, and stick it on his/her back. The pocket heater can protect body temperature up to 40 degrees for 24 hours.
