QNA Proposes A Specialized News Website For Arab Children

Doha, November 21 (QNA) -Qatar News Agency QNA has proposed the establishment of a regional center for expanding the child news service which QNA is currently providing, to cover all the Arab countries.
The proposal was included in a working paper presented by Abdullah al Muzaffar, QNA's chief delegate to the 39th session of the general assembly of the Federation of Arab News Agencies FANA which started in Doha Monday.
Al Muzaffar said the proposal is aimed at cementing the relationship between Arab children and their historic and social roots and developing a collective way of thinking among Arab children based on objectivity and scientific approach.
The working paper reviewed QNA's experience in providing children news service through "QNA the Child" program which was set up on Nov 30 last year as the first specialized children-oriented Arab website.
Al Muzaffar explained that the service is added to the agency's political, economic, cultural and sports services.
Al Muzaffar said the website would provide services such as videogames, images and educational program for children, beside organizing contests on the national day of Qatar and the world press day for children from children in Qatar and abroad.
He noted that because of an increase of traffic to QNA the Child the agency made it available on facebook and twitter in mid-May this year in order to increase interaction among children in Qatar and outside the country.
The number of visitors to the website reached 51285 from Qatar and 300000 from outside the country, since its establishment last year. The website will be part of QNA's contribution at the 22nd Doha International Book Fair which will be held in the middle of next month. (QNA)
