QNA Announces Training Courses to Improve Qatari Cadres Skills
Doha, May 05 (QNA) - Qatar News Agency (QNA) is organizing during the new fiscal year (April 2012- April 2013) a variety of specialized training courses in the field of media, aiming at improving the skills of the Qatari cadres working in this developing domain.
The courses this year cover all different areas of press, including the written press, radio and television, as well as other courses related to information strategies in terms of planning and implementation.
For the first time, QNA will give the opportunity for GCC citizens to participate in a selected number of courses covering an important aspect of media topics of interest to the GCC, in indication to its belief in its role in the GCC and its commitment to training GCC cadres under the umbrella of the GCC General Secretariat in order to achieve the objectives of the exchange of expertise and experience.
QNA courses will start on July 9 by holding a three-day course on the issuance of electronic journals, followed by another three-day course on editing children news on September 24.
In October, QNA will organize a training course on the press of women, children and people with special needs for the employees of Qatar Foundation for Education, Sciences and Community Development and other concerned institutions for four days.
Also in October, the news agency will hold the second edition of the journalistic translation course followed by a course on designing media sites on the Internet and the dissemination of credible information.
A three-day training course on photography will start on December 3, followed by the third edition of the journalistic translation course on December 21.
In February 2013, QNA will hold a three-day course on the arts of interviewing and the skills of dealing with senior figures. Also in February, the agency will hold a specialized course of facilitate the exchange of information between media institutions, followed by a three-day course on the planning and management of media organizations on March 25.
Meanwhile, the training courses allowed for GCC trainees will start on September 10 by holding a three-day course on the technological developments in media, broadcasting and digital communication, followed by a training course on refute media campaigns against the GCC in December and a course on the integration of media discourse of the GCC countries in January, then a specialized course on the planning and management of media organizations in March.
QNA Director of Media Relations Department Ahmad Mohammad al-Buainein said that the new training course come in the wake of the great success achieved by the courses organized by QNA during the last fiscal year, including specialized courses on writing economic news, editing in English language, press photography, journalistic translation, editing sports news and others.
Al-Buainein noted that opening the door before media personnel from the GCC countries to participate in the training course is anew step taken by QNA in the framework of cooperation and integration between the GCC news agencies and stemmed from QNA keenness to achieve greater benefit for those working in the media field in Qatar and other GCC countries.
What distinguishes the training sessions this year, al-Buainein said, is the large number of about 14 course as well as their diversity and coverage of new topics in the field of journalism and media, in order to keep up with developments in this vital area which is witnessing rapid growth with the use of modern technologies.
He underlined QNA keenness to attract instructors and lecturers who have a wide and high-level scientific and academic experience from around the world to ensure that the trainees will receive upscale media training and acquire high skills that will help them in their working lives.
Al-Buainein noted that the training courses organized by QNA on an ongoing basis come in implementation the Emiri decision No. 51 of 2009, which mandated Qatar News Agency to hold training courses for Qatari media professionals in order to improve their capabilities through continuous training and development programs.
