QFCHT Organizes 2nd Program of WAYAKUM Campaign
Doha, May 08 (QNA) - Qatar Foundation for Combating Human Trafficking (QFCHT) organized on Wednesday the second program of the WAYAKUM awareness campaign under the title 'Home is wherever you are sustained'.
The program which was held at the Industrial Area Labour Health Centre targeted more than 300 workers from different companies and corporate institutions in the country.
The WAYAKUM campaign second program included an awareness lecture delivered by Dr. Adulsamad Al-Sukkari, Professor of International Law and expert on research and studies at the Training Institute of the Interior Ministry.
The Lecture shed light on the concept of expatriate labor, the impact of dedication to work, the relationship between the worker and the employer, the definition of the labor contract in accordance with international and national legislation particularly the Qatari Labour Law No. 14 of 2004, and what it pointed as mutual obligations of the natural persons, legal entities and workers.
Dr. Al-Sukkari pointed that the most important reason for bringing in foreign workers is the implementation of the development plans related to Qatar National Vision 2030 and the national development strategy 2011-2016. He also addressed the security, moral and social challenges which may face the society because of the expatriate workers and the ways to avoid and handle them.
Al-Sukkari also stressed that the expat workers' rights in Qatar are protected through three mechanisms namely, constitutional and legal protection for foreign workers, the institutional protection of labor rights and the protection of social and economic rights of foreign workers.
Following the lecture, mobility and recreational competitions were organized followed by distributing gifts and meals for workers. (QNA)
