Qatar's Premier Chairs Arab Peace Initiative Ministerial Committee Meeting with Kerry
WASHINGTON, April 29 (QNA) - In the presence of US Vice President Joe Biden, Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani, who is also the Chairman of the Arab Peace Initiative Ministerial Committee met here today with US Secretary of John Kerry.
The meeting was attended by Arab League Secretary General Dr. Nabil Al Araby
At the beginning of the meeting, John Kerry welcomed HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, HE Secretary General of the Arab League and the members underlining the importance of this dialogue on the Middle East and the region, stressing that it is necessary to speak frankly in this regard.
For his part, and on behalf of the Arab delegation HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani expressed his thanks and appreciation to the U.S. Secretary of State, noting the importance of this meeting and expressed his hope that it would lead to a comprehensive peace between Arabs and Israelis.
HE the Premier and Foreign Minister praised the efforts of US Secretary of State in this regard, stressing the seriousness of the Arabs to achieve a just peace for all parties.
During the meeting, they discussed steps to activate the Arab peace initiative and efforts to advance the peace process in the Middle East, particularly a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian issue as a strategic option of the Arab countries achieved under international law and requires a corresponding commitment confirmed by Israel.
Another meeting was held to discuss the latest developments in Syria.
The meeting was attended by a number of the foreign ministers and representatives of the Member States of the Ministerial Committee of the Arab initiative.(QNA)
