Qatar's Diplomatic Appearance in Sudan "Significant", Says Sudanese Trade Minister
Doha, April 25 (QNA) - "Sudan is seeking to form a joint ministerial committee with Qatar in a bid to promote joint cooperation," said Sudanese Trade Minister Osman Omer Al Shareef Wednesday, adding,"We have a scheme that would enable strong coordinative ties between Sudan-Qatar private sectors."
Trade Minister Al Shareef, currently visiting Qatar to attend the 13th conference of the UNCTAD XIII said in an exclusive interview to Qatar News Agency (QNA) Wednesday that Sudan - Qatar relations are of a "strategic" pattern referring to Qatar s role in supporting Sudan. "Qatar s efforts and diplomatic appearance to find solutions to all disputes in Sudan and the whole region of Africa are significant," he noted.
Pointing to joint businesses between Sudan and Qatar, Al Shareef said he has invited HE Minister of Business and Trade, Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulaziz Al Thani to visit Sudan to check Qatar s projects there and further establish huge projects in Sudan to boost brotherly ties.
Speaking about the UNCTAD XIII conference now held in Doha, he said it marks an economic phenomenon that deals with development and trade, it also discusses major issues, challenges and crises facing trade and development.
He noted that the developing and least developing countries agreed that debts were posing major difficulties there and so the sustainable development should be approached through partnerships.
Trade Minister Al Shareef said that the UNCTAD XIII raised the issue of Sudan s integration in the international trade. "Integrating Sudan in the international trade is one of the major blocks we face, so we asked the international community to facilitate the procedures of Sudan's joining to the World Trade Organization".
Sudan as well called for getting all the benefits of the conditions that the World Bank and the international monetary fund IMF set to clear the developing and the least developing countries debts, Al Shareef made clear.
On asking him if the Sudan South Sudan disputes have any relevant negative sequels on the issue of "Scarcity of Commodities" he said Sudan might see some price increases yet all sorts of commodities are well-secured".
Sudan Trade Minister affirmed Sudan will not encounter any famines or related troubles that happened back in the eighties adding that the current farming season might contribute at fixing multiple issues in Sudan, Al Shareef noted. (QNA)
