Sochi, April 17 (QNA) - The head of Qatar's sports media committee Mohammad Al Malki was elected on Wednesday vice president of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) as the association's 76th general assembly voted to pick a new executive committee.
Al Malki was not the only elected Arab as Emirati Abdulla Ibrahim bin Hussain and Moroccan Jalal Bouzrara were voted members of the executive committee for a 4-year term.
"The voting procedure, where 52 countries represented the majority, took place electronically. In total, 104 countries took part in the voting procedure," a statement on AIPS website read. Out of the 104 countries, 15 Arab nations participated in the vote.
Italy's Gianni Merlo was unanimously reelected AIPS president as he stood elections unopposed. Esat Yilmaer of Turkey also kept his position as first vice president, while Austrian Michael Kuhn was elected AIPS treasurer. (QNA)
