Qatari-Turkmen Joint Commission Meeting

Ashgabat,January 28 (QNA) -A joint Qatari-Turkmen commission held its first meeting in Turkmenistan's capital Ashgabat on Monday, co-chaired by HE the Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Attiyah and the Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov. An emphasis was laid during the meeting on the two countries desire to expand scopes of bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially increasing trade exchanges in education, tourism, energy , air transport and sports. Both sides lauded the outcome of the visit of the Turkmen president to Qatar in October last year and the talks he had with HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, including the agreement to form the joint commission. Al Attiyah expressed the hope that the first meeting of the commission will help start a new phase in relations between the two countries that would be in the interest of both peoples. He also hoped the meeting would be the start for the commission's activity and urged the working team of the commission to set up a timetable for implementing the commissions decisions and proposals. He also urged the chambers of commerce in both countries to consider the possibility of carrying out joint projects. For his part, Rashid Meredov noted that both countries have the desire to enhance bilateral cooperation as manifested in the commission's meeting, pointing out that the Turkmen president's visit to Qatar in October laid a strong foundation for future cooperation between the two countries.
