Qatari Prime Minister and Bulgarian Counterpart Press Conference
Doha, March 13 (QNA) - (QNA) - HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani described the talks he held this evening with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, as very important to the Qatari-Bulgarian relations, referring in this regard to the recent visit by HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to the Republic of Bulgaria and that the current visit of Bulgarian Prime Minister, his second visit to the State of Qatar.
Speaking at in a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria this evening at the Emiri Diwan, HE the Premier and Foreign Minister said that the two sides agreed that Qatar would invest in three areas in Bulgaria including tourism, services, infrastructure, and agriculture sectors and to this end the officials from both countries will meet tomorrow, Wednesday to discuss these issues.
HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim expressed his thanks for the invitation extended to him to visit Bulgaria to finalize what have been agreed upon here today ... "There is a clear intention I told my friend the prime minister, that Qatar will have investments in Bulgaria and we will begin that during this year. " HE said.
On his meeting with the United Nations and Arab League joint Envoy to Syria Kofi Annan, and the positions of Russia and China on the Syrian crisis, HE the Prime Minister said "I think it's very important for the Syrian government to know that the time is running out, while they continue killing their people". adding that Kofi Annan has presented proposals to the Syrian government, and he is expected to receive answers today or tomorrow.
On his meeting with Kofi Annan, HE the Premier and Foreign Minister said "if there is a thought that we can start tackling the Syria issue from scratch and continue for months in talks about it, I think that neither the world, the Arab world, nor the Syrian people could wait any longer, and that Kofi Annan knows this and knows that there is only a short time. Also the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon aid today that the time is short for the Syrian side, to make a quick decision, HE the Premier and Foreign Minister added
He said: "what needs to be done by (the Syrian side) is known, and it is a priority to find a solution, to stop the killing.
On the Russia and China positions, HE the Premier and Foreign Minister said: "Of course you have heard what happened yesterday at the Security Council, we still hope that Russian and Chinese stances, we hope that both Russia and China would take the side of the Syrian people, he added. HE the Premier and Foreign Minister also voiced hope that the crisis would be resolved without more killings or military solution, and that reason and wisdom will prevail by the Syrian government taking a bold decision to recognize and abide by Arab plan."
On the similar stances of Qatar and Saudi Arabia on the Syrian situation, HE the Premier and Foreign Minister said: "I don't want to call it 'harmony'. I want to call it 'Arab interest' that makes it imperative for everyone to agree, not only Qatar and Saudi Arabia," .
HE added that several Arab countries support this stance in various degrees and the Arab street is totally for it, because it has a humanitarian basis rather than a political one.
"We can't remain silent or tolerate what is going on now because what happened has exceeded all the limits humans can accept. The conscience of any human being can't stand it," HE the Premier said.
HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani said that the Syrian National Council (SNC) was recognized during the "Freinds of Syria" international meeting in Tunis.
"The State of Qatar was a member of the committee that drafted the statement, where SNC was recognized. What we hope for is that the rest of the opposition parties would come together, put their differences aside, and focus on how to help the Syrian people," HE said.
For his part, HE the Bulgarian Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the great desire of the Qatari Government to invest in his country in the areas of infrastructure projects such as airports, highways and services, especially in light of the current difficult economic conditions.
He said that a date has been set for accomplishing the tasks of the two parties ... noting in this regard that the concerned ministers from both countries will meet tomorrow to discuss aspects of cooperation that were agreed upon during the talks.
He said that HE the Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani will visit Bulgaria in three months time in order to follow up finalizing these projects, which include linking Bulgaria and Turkey in the field of energy and a project for liquefying natural gas (LNG), pointing out that there must be economic feasibility of such projects.
On the situation in Syria, Bulgarian Prime Minister said his country was among the first countries that condemned the what is going in Syria.
He expressed hope that the authorities in Syria would take a rational stand to stop people killing . (END)
