Qatari Premier : HH the Emir's Proposal to Send Arab Troops to Syria Praised by Arab Foreign Ministers

Cairo, January 22 (QNA) - HE Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani has denied that the proposal of HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to send Arab troops to Syria has been objected at the meeting of the Arab Ministerial Council today .. He stressed that the proposal has been praised by the Arab foreign ministers. Speaking at a joint press conference with the Arab League Secretary-General Dr. Nabil Al-Arabi at the end of the extraordinary meeting of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level here this evening, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim expressed surprise at the interpretations and confusion that surrounded this proposal, which he said was seen as a call to send the "Arab forces to face the Syrian army .. He stressed that the primary objective of this proposal is to "Send an Arab peace-keeping forces as happened with Lebanon in the seventies of the last century when it was decide to send Arab deterrence forces at that time." HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim said: "The proposal of sending Arab troops to Syria aims primarily to the separation of warring parties and to provide an opportunity for political dialogue" .. He pointed out that the Arab Ministerial Council will ask the UN Security Council to support the Arab initiative reached by the Council today, which he said it includes timetables to resolve the crisis, and the transition to democratic rule in Syria. HE the Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani stressed that this approach "does not mean military intervention request" .. "I hope that the regime in Syria contemplates what happened in another country, and deal positively with the Arab initiative.", HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim said HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim added: "We will ask the UN Security Council to set a date for a meeting for me and Dr. Nabil Al-Arabi to present the Arab initiative and the Arab resolutions to in order to get adequate support from the Security Council for this initiative, and assist in the ratification process." On the criticism by Syrian President against the Arab League, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani said: "This is an Arab initiative and have no aim but reaching a solution to the Syrian crisis, and we have seen in the Yemen initiative it has put an end to the crisis there. " He added that "Now there are responsibilities on the Syrian President, and this honorable way out for him, this is an Arab solution to Syria, intended to protect Syria from sliding into civil war.", HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim said On the criticism against the State of Qatar by certain quarters, HE the Premier and Foreign Minister said: "We do not have a problem, it is important for us is to keep Syria a strong and secure... Syria is a major Arab country." he noted. HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor said that the Arab Ministerial Council unanimously approved additional funds in support of the Observer Mission .. Noting that the State of Qatar has provided an additional amount. Responding to a question about the possibility that the GCC states would withdraw its observers, as Saudi Arabia did, HE the Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani expressed his respect for Saudi Arabia's decision .. And said : "It is after 20 days from the presence of observers the killing was still continuing, and now must focus on what we will do.", he added HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim said that Saudi Arabia is a big country, and a father for the Cooperation Council, and this is the reality no matter how we disagree with it" .. noting that when there is a clear vision by Saudi Arabia, "the GCC countries will be with the Kingdom," .. He expressed hope that progress would achieved. He pointed out "that there were hopes that the presence of observers would lead to the complete elimination of violence, and what happened is the drop in violence, and what is happening is a partial implementation of the initiative." Answering a question about the failure of the Arab League in Iraq and Libya issues and others, and now Syria is to be added to this failure, HE the Premier and Foreign Minister said: " in the Libyan case, the Arab League asked for no fly zone to protect civilians, otherwise Benghazi would have suffered a massacres similar to massacres of Hulagu, as for the Iraqi issue , the Iraqi leadership had committed folly of the invasion of Kuwait.
