Qatari Attorney General Meets Arab League Chief
Cairo, January 24 (QNA) - HE Qatar's Attorney General Dr. Ali bin Fetais Al Merri met here on Tuesday with the Arab League Secretary General Dr. Nabil Al Arabi .
During the meeting, they discussed the Arab League support for the independence of the judiciary in the Arab world, including the independence of the Public Prosecutions, the principle of judicial independence and the complete separation of powers as part of the ongoing of reform policy in the Arab region .
HE the Attorney General called for greater support by the the Arab League for Arab Attorneys general , especially their coming annual meeting. He called for the coming meeting of the Attorneys-General to be held at the Arab League headquarter in Cairo in order to give further impetus to their work.
HE the Attorney general also highlighted Qatar's support for the independence of the judicial authorities in the Arab world as a backbone of human well-being in any society.
The meeting also reviewed the challenges facing the Arab countries at the present time and their impact as well as importance of the independence and integrity of the judicial systems, especially in the aftermath of the financial crisis that hit the world and changes in some Arab countries.
HE. Al-Merri expressed Qatar's readiness to cooperate fully with the Arab League in providing training courses in judicial domains through the Rule of Law and Anti-corruption Centre which was established recently in Doha, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP).(QNA)
