QatarGas Reduces Emissions by 60 Percent
Doha, March 11 (QNA) - QatarGas General Manager HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani said the company managed during four years to reduce emissions by 60 per cent.
Addressing a news conference today on the occasion of the company's announcement of its sponsorship of the public hygiene campaign of the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, Sheikh Khalid explained that Qatargas has several environmental projects, including high-cost projects, as part of its vision until 2015.
He noted that Qatargas is one of the first companies that support environment and was able in a short period of time, especially during the last four years, to reduce emissions by 60 per cent including emissions to the air, sea or industrial water.
The company is seeking to reduce emissions to the lowest level within a plan in place until 2015, RasGas General Manager said.
On waste treatment Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa said there is a plant for the treatment of hazardous waste in the city of Mesaieed, while another plant will be established in Ras Laffan Industrial City to cope with the evolution of the company and the increasing number of its factories noting that it is on the phase of final studies.
He explained that there are some waste that can not be treated at the waste treatment centre in Mesaieed, and will be processed in Ras Laffan.(QNA)
