Qatar Welcomes New Taliban Bureau Opening in Doha

Doha , January 15 (QNA) - The State of Qatar welcomed Monday the opening of a bureau in Doha belonging to Afghani movement Taliban. The bureau will help facilitate security and peace efforts between the Afghan movement and other involved parties in Afghanistan. This came in a statement by an official source at Foreign Ministry to Qatar News Agency (QNA) after a joint statement was released from the White House by US President Barack Obama and Afghan President Hamid Karzai. The Official stressed that the State of Qatar is keen on supporting any effort that will establish comprehensive and lasting peace in Afghanistan and achieve unity of its people. Presidents Obama and Karzai have both voiced their support to establishing a Taliban bureau in Doha, in the statement they released earlier. Both Presidents said that the bureau will help advance peace talks between the Afghan Supreme Peace Council. Both presidents have also asked the State of Qatar to facilitate peace efforts. They also called on armed opposition in Afghanistan to join the peace process. (QNA)
