Qatar Voted As Arab Labor Organization Chair for 77th Session

Doha, May 13 (QNA) - The Arab Labor Organization (ALO) Voted Sunday the State of Qatar as the Organization's Chair for its 77th session. Qatar will be ALO's Chair for a year. The decision was made during a meeting of the 77th session. The Arab Labor Organization Secretary-General Ahmed Luqman Ahmed and representatives from Governments and Businessmen chose Qatari ALO board member Nasser Al Meer as Chairman of the board for the 77th session. Al Meer expressed his hope for a fruitful cooperation with Secretary-General to bring out the 77th session in the best shape possible. He said that one of the key goals will be good preparation for a proactive participation in the 101 session of the International Labor Conference in Geneva. He said that ALO must prioritize a number of issues to put it forward in the conference, particularly the issue of Palestinians imprisoned in Israel. He added that 45% of the imprisoned Palestinians were workers. Another issue that Al Meer proposed was to call for accepting Palestine as a member of the International Labor Organization. The meeting also discussed the impact of the Israeli occupation on the economic and social conditions in Palestine as well as other Arab occupied regions. (QNA)
