Qatar Strives For Top Ten On Corruption Perceptions Index

Doha,December 11 (QNA) - Qatar's Prosecutor General, Dr Ali Bin Futais Al Merri said on Sunday that Qatar has been seeking to occupy one of first ten ranks on the Tansparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), thanks to its continued efforts to fight corruption at the national ,regional and international level. At a news conference after inaugurating the center of Law Enforcement and Corruption Fighting in Doha, he said Qatar has great ambitions in this regard. Qatar came 22nd and was first among Arab countries on the Transparency International's 2011 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) - the world's most credible measure of domestic, public sector corruption. Dr Ali Bin Futais Al Merri noted with appreciation the unlimited support of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani and HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani for the fight against corruption which helped catapult Qatar onto rank 22 on the index.
