Qatar Red Crescent Implements Diversified Projects in Myanmar
Doha, April 21 (QNA) - Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) is implementing several projects in Rakhine state, north-west of Myanmar including relief aid projects, support of affected displaced people in the sectors of shelter and non-food requirements, health, water and sanitation and the provision of livelihood opportunities with a budget of approximately USD 1,200,000.
In the area of shelter and non-food requirements, QRC has built 60 residential compounds including 480 housing units for the benefit of 480 families or nearly 3,000 people.
QRC has started the implementation of this project late in January, 2013 after obtaining a suitable land suitable in Rakhine state. Over 2500 workers from people residing camps adjacent to the construction site participated in the construction works. That was aimed to enable the beneficiaries themselves to get a financial income that could help them to secure part of the requirements of their lives and equip them with a craft so that they can earn a living in the future. QRC team in Myanmar distributed 200 insect protection nets, kitchen utensils and some personal supplies to a number of beneficiary households.(QNA)
