Qatar Ranks First at Arab Level and Advances to 36th Globally in Human Development

Doha, March 14 (QNA) - Qatar ranked first at Arab level and advanced to 36th globally in human development, according to the Human Development Report 2013, launched today in Mexico by Helen Clark, director of the United Nations Development Programme Helen Clark, accompanied by the President of Mexico Enrique Pe?a Nieto. The report highlighted the great development witnessed by Qatar in all aspects of social and economic development, where the average of life expectancy at birth from 78.4 in 2011 to 78.5 , while average of annual per capita gross national income has become $87,478 compared to $ 82,978 in 2011. Qatar ranked 37 in the previous Human Development Report . Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA) Chairman HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jabor bin Jassim Al Thani has commended the privileged status achieved by the State of Qatar in the new Human Development Report emphasizing that it reflects human development taking place in the State of Qatar under the wise leadership of the country. He also praised the efforts made by the concerned authorities in the State to provide accurate and comprehensive statistics that reflect the progress of the state in human development.(QNA)
