Qatar Philatelic & Numismatic Club to Participate in World Stamp Exhibition

Doha, June 10 (QNA) - The Qatar Philatelic and Numismatic Club will participate in the Inter-Asian Philatelic Federation (FIAP) General Congress meetings and the World Stamp Championship and Exhibition to be held in Jakarta from June 18-24. The Club will showcase four unique presentations which have been awarded international medals and include 26 frames reflecting Iraq under British occupation as well as the history of Kuwait, Oman, and Addan's postal services, Club Vice-President Hussain Rajab Al-Ismail said. The exhibition, held under the auspices of the FIAP and the International Philatelic Federation (FIP), is considered one of the largest with a number of workshops, lectures, and seminars conducted on its sidelines, Al-Ismail indicated. The FIAP's General Congress meetings will include the election process for the selection of a vice chairman and executive directors of the federation as well as 14 branch committees while Gulf clubs and associations in addition to Egypt (the non-GCC Arab member) will conduct a joint meeting to coordinate and select representatives, the Club Vice-President remarked. Qatar's Philatelic and Numismatic Club is keen on attending such exhibitions and meetings to affirm the State of Qatar's presence in international forums and due to its position as a member of the FIAP's Executive Committee, in addition to providing an opportunity for coordination with GCC clubs.
