Qatar Petroleum Receives Three International Certifications from BSI
Doha, April 27 (QNA) - Qatar Petroleum (QP) has successfully achieved recertification to ISO 9001:2008 for the Quality Management System, and received new certifications for its Operations Directorate; to ISO 14001:2004 for the Environmental Management System, and OHSAS 18001:2007 for the Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, who is also chairman and managing director of QP, has formally accepted the certifications from the British Standards Institution (BSI) at a ceremony held at the QP headquarters on Thursday, a QP press release issued today said.
During the event, British Ambassador to Qatar Mr. Michael O'Neill presented QP's certification to ISO 9001:2008 to Dr. Al-Sada and the ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 certificates to Mr. Said Mubarak Al-Mohannadi, QP director of operations.
The awarding of the three international certifications to QP was also attended by BSI representatives and senior QP officials, including Dr. Ali Hamed Abdulla Al-Mulla, QP's acting manager for corporate health, safety and environment and manager for corporate environment and sustainable development; Mr. Ahmad Saif Al-Sulaiti, operations manager at Dukhan fields; Mr. Mubarak Awaida Al-Hajri, operations manager of offshore fields; and Mr. Eid Mubarak Al-Muhannadi, gas operations manager.
Independent third-party certification of QP's management systems has helped the corporation in continuously improving its business performance, managing business risks, and aligning its operations with international benchmarks.
In line with Qatar National Vision 2030, QP is fully committed in protecting and conserving the natural environment, in ensuring the safety of its assets and employees, as well as in providing high-quality products and services to its customers worldwide. QP's certification to the three international standards is a testament to its commitment to further develop the Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) culture within the organization and in the State of Qatar.
According to the press release, QP's certification to ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 has been made possible through the determined efforts of its employees, joint venture partners and contractors, who all contribute in boosting QP's image as a world-class organization. (QNA)
