Qatar Participates in OIC's Donors' Conference in Baku
Baku, June 11 (QNA) - The State of Qatar, on Tuesday participated in the conference of Organization of Islamic Cooperation's (OIC) Foreign Ministers for donors of the strategic plan for developing the city of Al -Quds ( Jerusalem) and forming an Islamic financial safety net for supporting Palestine.
The Qatari delegation to the conference is headed by HE Foreign Minister's Assistant for International Cooperation, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohamed bin Jabor Al Thani.
In his speech before the conference now in progress in Baku, HE Foreign Minister's Assistant for international cooperation, stressed the importance of achieving Palestinians' security and stability, contributing to the development of their economic and human resources and pushing forward the development process in Palestine.
HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohamed bin Jabor Al Thani said that Qatar, for decades, has been committed to provide different forms of relief and development assistance in addition to infrastructure projects in Palestine. The total Qatari assistance to Palestine during the period 2001 to 2012 exceeded USD 478 million , he explained.
The Qatari senior official pointed to the call of HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, for developing a comprehensive strategy to cover the different projects which the holy city of Al Quds needs.
He also pointed to the initiative of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, for establishing a USD 1 billion fund for financing projects and programs that maintain the Islamic-Arabic identity of the holy city of Al Quds adding that Qatar has contributed USD 250 million to the fund.
HE Foreign Minister's Assistant for international cooperation, meantime met with Azeri Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov. (QNA)
