Qatar Partakes in London International Book Fair

Doha, April 16 (QNA) -Qatar National Library (QNL) is participating in the London Book Fair 2013 (LBF 2013), which is now taking place at the historic Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London, England, from the 15th to 17th of April. The director of the public libraries department at the ministry of culture ,a rts and heritage abdullah nasser al ansari who is also head of doha international book fair said in an exclusive statement to Qatar news agency (QNA) on Tuesday that the qatari participation in (LBF 2013) reflects the due keenness on part of qatar to further enhance the cultural exchange between Qatar and Britain where the (LBF 2013) is to witness this year " qatar-UK programme 2013" which provides for establishing cultural activities in the two countries. Al-Ansari pointed out that qatar's participation in the (LBF 2013) will be through a special pavilion to be supervised by the Ministry of Culture ,Arts and heritage and with the participation of many state organs through their respective prints and publications such as the Qatar Museums Authority, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Al Jazeera Centre for Studies, Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) and which will be represented Bloomsbury, as well as publications of the Ministry ofculture, Arts and Heritage covering various fields. The QNL, which is being designed by renowned Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, was originally slated to open this year, but its launch has been pushed back to the end of 2014. The LBF offers participants the ideal platform to engage with customers, demonstrate products, build brand awareness, and to try and convert sales, in addition to providing an ideal setting to broaden understanding of the issues impacting the publishing industry today, question experts, and to discover new ways to acquire and apply skill sets.
