Qatar Keen on Promotion And Protection of Women's Rights

Geneva, June 05 (QNA) - The State of Qatar confirmed its commitment to promoting and protecting the rights of women in line with provisions of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. It also stressed keenness on joining the international protocols on combating human trafficking. This came in a speech by the Qatari delegation before the 23rd session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, delivered by Al-Anoud Qassim Al-Tamimi. In her speech, Al-Anoud Al-Tamimi, underlined that the Permanent Constitution of the State of Qatar guarantees that all citizens are equal before the law in both rights and obligations regardless of gender. The national legislation also focused on the protection of women against all forms of violence and trafficking, Al-Anoud said citing in this regard the Family Law of 2006, and the Anti-Human Trafficking law of 2011.
