Qatar Honored for Emir's Generous Donation to Jerusalem Eye Hospital
Ottawa, June 25 (QNA) - In recognition and appreciation of the generous donation of HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to St Johns Eye Hospital in Jerusalem, HE Qatar's Ambassador to Canada Mubarak Al Shafi was awarded (The Chancellor's Commendation) Order and a certificate of appreciation from the (St. John Ambulance) charitable organization to acknowledge the generous contribution which will enable the Group to build an equipped and specialized eye hospital in the Gaza Strip.
The Order was awarded by Representative of Queen Elizabeth II Lord Anthony Mellows during a reception held on the occasion at the St Johns headquarters in the Canadian Capital, Ottawa.
President of the Federal District of St. John Ambulance in Ottawa Alan Bird expressed gratitude and appreciation for HH the Emir of Qatar for of his humanitarian gesture which will help ease the pain and suffering of the besieged Palestinian people in Gaza.
The St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group had received a donation of $1 million from HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifah Al Thani as a first installment towards the cost of developing our new Day Case Hospital in Gaza.
The St. John Ambulance Canada (SJAC) is the Canadian chapter of St. John Ambulance (SJA), a worldwide non-profit first aid training organization.
The Chancellor s Commendation is awarded by the Chancellor of the Priory of Canada of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem to acknowledge a contribution which deserves recognition. It is an exceptional distinction that is personally awarded by the Chancellor to recognize a particularly meritorious contribution to the Order on the national scene. (QNA)
