Qatar Foreign Ministry Announces Restructuring of Ministry, Appoints Three Assistants
Doha, December 13 (QNA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced an internal restructure and appointed three assistants to the minister at the rank of minister. They are Minister's Assistant for International Cooperation, Minister's Assistant Foreign Affairs and Minister's Assistant for Services Affairs. It also created new departments, an information office and a diplomatic institute for staff training and rehabilitation.
The Ministry appointed HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Jabor Al Thani as the International Cooperation Assistant and HE Ali bin Fahad bin Faleh Al-Hajri as the Foreign Affairs Assistant and HE Rashid bin Khalifa bin Mohammed Al Khalifa as the Services Affairs Assistant.
The new structure of the Foreign Ministry brought a quantum leap in the course of action in the ministry as it created leading positions, departments and new offices and determined the tasks and functions of each one to keep pace with the developments and improve diplomatic work in line with the active and influential role played by the State of Qatar at the regional and international levels in the service of peace and disputes solving.
In addition to these leading positions, the new structure split the Asian and African affairs department into two separate departments, one for Asian affairs and another for African affairs and split European and American affairs department into two departments as well, one for European affairs while the second is for American affairs, and created an information office.
The newly sectors created under organization chart include several departments. The foreign affairs section has GCC affairs department, Arab affairs department, Asian affairs department and African affairs department, European affairs department and American affairs department.
The international cooperation section has international organizations and conferences department, International development department, international technical cooperation department, the Office of Human Rights and the Permanent Committee for Organizing Conferences.
The services section includes consular affairs department, protocol department, legal affairs department, systems and information technology department, administrative and financial affairs department, technical affairs department, information office, security affairs office, duty office and diplomatic institute.
