Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies Celebrates Graduation of Fourth Batch
Doha, June 08 (QNA) - Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS) has celebrated the graduation of the fourth batch of students in various disciplines in presence of HE Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, HE President of Hamad bin Khalifa University Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Thani and a number of dignitaries and members of the faculty.
Addressing the graduation ceremony, HE Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah congratulated the graduates on their achievements which demonstrate their seriousness and perseverance on scientific research.
HE Al-Attiyah extended thanks and gratitude to HH the Emir of Qatar, HH the Heir Apparent and HH Sheikha Moza bin Nasser for their continued support to this outstanding educational institution in particular, and to the higher education and scientific research in Qatar in general.
He also thanked all members and staff of the faculty for their unlimited support to the graduates during their study.
HE Al-Attiyah expressed confidence that the graduates realize their huge responsibility towards their communities after they obtained this high rank of education in the Islamic studies in politics, economy and scientific research methods.
He believed that they will contribute to the development of their countries, and will work to instill the values of philanthropy, tolerance and acceptance of others.
HE Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah added that the establishment of such a specialized institution in Islamic sciences will restore the Islamic civilization glories and leading role in all scientific, cultural and civilizational forums.
Concluding, HE Al-Attiyah said that the Islamic culture has contributed greatly to enrich other cultures in various sciences such as medicine, astronomy, music, sociology and mathematics. This pattern should be taken as a model for continued scientific, cultural cooperation.
The fourth batch of the Faculty of Islamic Studies graduates included 44 male and female students of whom two students of the diploma in Islamic Finance, 3 of the M.A. in Islamic Studies in Contemporary Fiqh, 11 of the M.A. in Public Policy in Islam, and 28 of M.Sc. of Islamic Finance.
Eleven Qatari male and female students were among the 2013 graduates. Other nationalities included several countries like Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait, Yemen, Egypt, Tunisia, Pakistan, India, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Thailand, The Gambia, Nigeria, Benin, Kenya and France.
Inspired by HH Sheikha Moza bin Nasser, the Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Sciences and Community Development, Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS) was established in 2007 to be an international center for Islamic thinking and dialogue aims to enhance research into Islamic culture and promote the diversity and tolerance of the Islamic Fiqh, or understanding.
QFIS offers programs in Master of Science in Islamic Finance, Master of Arts in Public Policy in Islam, Master of Arts in Islamic Studies with a specialization in Contemporary Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) and Religion and Contemporary Thought, Master of Science in Urban Design and Architecture in Muslim Societies, and Master of Arts in Contemporary Muslim Societies.
It also offers postgraduate diplomas in Islamic Finance, General Islamic Studies, and Public Policy in Islam. (QNA)
