Qatar Energy Minister Calls for Electricity Rationalization

Doha, May 20 (QNA) - HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada affirmed here Monday the commitment of Qatar to consolidating the culture of rationalization and the adoption of strategies and programmes to encourage the rationalization of electricity consumption in all sectors so as to enhance the efficiency of energy use on the occasion of the Arab Energy Efficiency Day on Tuesday. On this occasion, HE the Minister of Energy and Industry called on all citizens and residents to effectively participate in the national campaign for rationalization and promotion of the efficiency of the use of water and electricity in order to contribute to the preservation of natural state, to achieve the sustainable development and to support the efforts aimed to preserve the environment. He pointed out that the optimal usage of resources that the State of Qatar is seeking to achieve through natural resource management strategy is the roadmap that ensures the sustainability of these resources and the preservation of the rights of the generations to come, stressing that rationalization should be the people's culture before being a government orientation. For his part, President of Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA),Engineer Issa Hilal Al Kuwari affirmed the Corporations' commitment to providing Qatar's needs of electricity with a high degree of efficiency to achieve the sustainable development and to cope with the economic, urban and social development with emphasis on the responsibility of individuals and institutions towards the promotion and enhancement of the efficiency of the usage of the energy. He called on all society categories to deal positively with the national campaign to strengthen and raise the efficiency of the usage of water and electricity launched by Kahramaa last year, pointing out that the increase of the number of subscribers as a result of the comprehensive development under way in the country requires from all citizens to reconsider the daily consumption habits to ensure the continuation of supplies for the generations to come.(QNA)
