Qatar, Egypt Hold Talks

Cairo, January 17 (QNA) - Egypt's Finance Minister Dr. Morsi Hijazi held talks here today with Qatar's Minister of Economy and Finance HE Yousuf Hussein Kamal. During the meeting, the Egyptian Minister of Finance stressed his country's keenness to strengthen and develop its relations with the brethren Arabs, especially the State of Qatar, which did not hesitate to support Egypt and its economy in the face of the current crisis, but was quick to allocate $ 5 billion financial package for Egypt. He praised the position of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, who directed investment companies and Qatari funds to pump new investments in the Egyptian market in the coming period which is expected to reach between $ 10 and $ 15 billion, he said. On the Qatari side, the talks were attended by Qatar's Ambassador in Cairo and its Permanent Delegate to the Arab League Saif bin Muqqadam Al Buainain, CEO of Qatar Holding Ahmed Mohamed El-Sayed, and CEO of the Qatari Diar real estate investment company Eng. Mohammed Bin Ali Al Hedfa . On the Egyptian side, the talks were attended by First Undersecretary of Finance Ministry Ayman Jawhar, Dr. Abdul Allah Shehata Economic Adviser to the Minister of Finance Dr. Abdul Allah Shehata and Head of the Public Debt Unit Sami Khalaaf. The Egyptian Minister Dr. Morsi said that the talks aimed at overcoming any obstacles facing investment opportunities in Egypt, where the ministries of investment and planning and international cooperation are now developing a new map for investment in Egypt including nearly 400 development projects . For his part, Qatar's Minister of Economy and Finance HE Yousuf Hussein Kamal said that Qatar is keen to support Egypt to get out of the current crisis, pointing out that one of the mechanisms which HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani has directed for helping Egypt through making new investments for the Egyptian economy, which was the subject of discussions with Egypt over the last period, including today's meeting with Dr. Morsi Hijazi, Minister of Finance. He noted that the Qatari side is keen to identify procedures and laws and the facilities offered by the Egyptian government to investors, referring to the submission of several proposals for the development of Qatari investments in Egypt, such as the establishment of industrial zones with a special nature such as industrial zones established in Qatar. Qatar is also keen to take part in the social development efforts in Egypt through participation in social projects, he added.(QNA)
