Qatar Donates Five Liquefied Natural Gas Shipments to Egypt
Doha, June 10 (QNA) - Under the directives of HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar will donate five liquefied natural gas shipments to Egypt in a bid to curb energy production crisis in Egyptian local market during the summer.
The instructions come to show support to Egyptian people and alleviate their suffering as well as to overcome the gas supply crisis.
HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada said after a session of talks that was held in Doha today between the two sides that Qatar will supply Egypt with five liquefied natural gas shipments as a donation to Egyptian people, adding that this was an implantation to the directives of HH the Heir Apparent to meet a shortage in natural gas supply during summer. The shipments will be delivered starting from end of next July until mid of September 2013.
Egyptian Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Eng Sherif Hadara appreciated the positions taken by HH the Emir and HH the Heir Apparent in support of Egyptian people.
HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada had held a session of talks with Egyptian Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Eng Sherif Hadara in the presence of Assistant to Egyptian President for Foreign Affairs Essam Al Haddad in Egypt.
The two sides agreed to start procedures of finalizing the deal as soon as possible. The management of Qatargas had begun implementing the instructions of HH the Heir Apparent in cooperation with authorities concerned and in coordination with Qatar Petroleum and Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation.
The talks were attended by HE Qatargas Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Khalid Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation CEO Tarek El-Barkatawy as well as a number of senior officials from both sides and HE Egypt's Ambassador to Qatar Mohammed Morsy. (QNA)
