Qatar Deputy Premier Meets Arab League Secretary General

Doha, March 25 (QNA) - HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud met today with Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al Arabi. Talks during the meeting dealt with matters of mutual concern and final preparations for the convening of the International Conference on Reconstruction and Development of Darfur, scheduled to be held in Doha on April 7 and 8. They also reviewed efforts aimed to support the peace process and stability in Darfur in the light of the talks currently under way in Doha between the Sudanese government and the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) on the basis of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur. During the talks the two sides agreed to halt hostilities, reach a ceasefire and initial an agreement to pave the way for the signing of a final agreement between the two sides within the coming days. The meeting was attended by a number of officials for the Cabinet General Secretariat.(QNA)
