Qatar Committee for Alliance of Civilizations Issues Second Annual Report

Doha, June 05 (QNA) - HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of Qatar Committee for Alliance of Civilizations Dr. Khalid bin Mohammad al-Attiyah underlined on Tuesday that the Committee's activities and programs have strengthened Qatar's position in the field of the Alliance of Civilizations. In the introduction to the second annual report for 2011-2012, issued by Qatar Committee for Alliance of Civilizations, HE al-Attiyah hailed the efforts exerted by the representatives of the state ministries and bodies members of the committee, as well as the efforts made by the experts and researchers in the Committee's secretariat, and expressed hope that the report would reflect Qatar's efforts in the field of the Alliance of Civilization. The report consists of several sections, including an introduction about Qatar Committee for the Alliance of Civilizations, which was established by a decision of the Council of Ministers in 2010, and its objectives, as well as Qatar's plan for Alliance of Civilizations, which was updated in the light of the action plan of Organization of the Islamic Cooperation for the Alliance of Civilizations for (2012-2014). The report highlights the events organized by the Committee such as the 4th Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations, the Doha Pre-Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations; and the Fellowship Program for the Alliance of Civilizations, in addition to the other regional and international conferences and meetings on the Alliance of civilizations which the Committee participated in. The last part of the report covers the awareness of the concepts and goals of the Alliance of Civilizations. It also referred to the updated website of the Committee which added new information on its activities and programs. (QNA)
