Qatar Committed to Support Egypt's Economy, HE Prime Minister Says

Cairo, January 08 (QNA) - HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani said Sunday that Qatar is keen to stand by Egypt, which he described as "the biggest Arab country and important to all Arab nations." Addressing a press conference in Cairo, HE the Prime Minister that the visits by HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Egypt, which took place after the revolution, reflected the importance attached by the State of Qatar to enhancing relations with Egypt and its people HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani dismissed reports that the US are pressuring Arab countries, including the State of Qatar, to stop their economic support to Egypt. His excellency added over a number of talk sessions held at the highest level between Qatari officials and their Egyptian counterparts it was agreed that Qatar will stand by Egypt economically by providing grants, loans and joint investment. Qatar had already gave Egypt a grant worth $500 million, His excellency said, adding that the remaining agreements will be carried out after the election of a President in July. The Prime Minister said that such agreements should be concluded in a particular context that guarantees full clarity and in a way that meets both countries' interests. (QNA)
