Qatar Charity Starts Relief Project for Syrian Refugees in Jordan
Doha, May 09 (QNA) - Qatar Charity has announced that it started an urgent relief project in Jordan benefiting more than 1,300 Syrian refugee families.
In a press release today, Qatar Charity explained that the project comes in the context of "Syria Calls for Relief", campaign which it is currently executing, and the new launch of its efforts in favor of Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon.
It noted that the cost of this project amounted to half a million riyals and covers desperate needs that cannot be postponed, such as food, clothing, medicine and housing, explaining that the project is implemented in collaboration with the Islamic Centre Charity Society in Jordan to which thousands of Syrian families took refuge because of the more than a year violent events in Syria.
According to the statement, Qatar Charity is seeking to mobilize support for the financing of USD 13 million new qualitative projects to benefit more than one hundred thousand Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon.
The project includes distribution of food parcels containing the most important nutrients needed by the targeted people such as milk, flour, sugar, oil, etc to 500 families, as well as household items and other basic needs such as blankets, carpets, pillows, cooking utensils, table gas cookers, fans and small refrigerators to a similar number of families. Qatar Charity will also contribute, through the project, to the payment pay for homes rent for 300 refugee families.
Executive Director of International Operations in the Qatar Charity Mohammed Mubarak Salem Al-Adsani said the project is part of a series of projects which the Society seeks to implement in favor of Syrian refugees whose suffering has exacerbated. He urged all philanthropists and benefactors to contribute to the success of the campaign.(QNA)
