Qatar Charity Offers Relief Assistance to Floods Victims in Sudan
Doha, August 19 (QNA) -QATAR Charity (QC) has distributed relief assistance to 20,000 people affected by floods in Sudan as part of its emergency relief aid to people in the floods-affected areas.
QC said in a statement today the relief materials were distributed to the affected people in Khartoum and Al Jazeera states according to the lists that have been prepared by local representatives and QC's field team.
QC noted that the emergency relief aid included 40 tonnes of foodstuffs such as flour, rice, sugar, lentils, cooking oil in addition to other materials regarding shelter ,which included the provision of 2000 plastic covers, 1,000 blankets, 1,000 mattresses, 100 tents, 2,200 packets of detergents.
QC Executive Director for International Development Mohammed bin Ali al Ghamdi pointed out that the urgent assistance offered to flood victims to alleviate the impacts of the disaster which affected thousands of Sudanese people who have become homeless and displaced due to the latest floods that hit Sudan last week.
He added that the QC's Office has sent 14 emergency relief aid trucks to Mraabie locality and Alkriab in eastern area of the Nile, Umbadah locality , Mayo area in Jabal Awliya locality and Al Jazeera state.
He stressed that QC, in coordination with the Humanitarian Aid Commission, will continue its relief efforts in the second stage in the field of health through sanitation campaigns and distribution of medicines .(QNA)
