Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Finnish Business Delegation Meet

Doha, March 04 (QNA) - A meeting was held between a Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a Finland trade delegation currently visiting Qatar. The meeting, which brought together a number of Qatari businessmen and their Finnish counterparts, was held yesterday evening, was co-chaired by Finland's Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen, who is accompanied by a delegation of businessmen specialized in energy, security and safety, health care, information technology, renewable energy, education, communications, and electricity. In a speech he gave at the outset of the meeting, Katainen said Qatar has become a hub of the world's attention, due to its political or economic moves, saying that Qatar's winning the hosting the 2022 World Cup reflects this excellence. He added that the Qatari economy has witnessed a boom during the recent period, adding that Qatar is an attractive market for investment. He said he sensed this development during his visit, expressing his admiration for this development. Katainen pointed out that his accompanying delegation includes representatives of a number of companies that have the latest applications in their respective fields of work that could enable them to engage in successful partnerships with those interested to cooperate with them. Katann said although Finland is far from major large markets and enjoys a relatively small local market, because the population does not exceed five million people, it has good ties with those markets and the Finnish economy is one of the most powerful economies in Europe, explaining that despite the financial crisis that hit the world markets, the country's economy managed to overcome it safely. He noted that the country spends about 3.5 percent of the General Domestic Product (GDP) on research and development, pointing out that his country gives special care to the education sector which became a distinctive sector in the country. The Prime Minister of Finland said that his country also cares for green technology, which aims primarily to generate energy from renewable sources with the highest possible efficiency and to produce clean water, adding that health care is one of the outstanding sectors in Finland which has companies that provide care services abroad.(QNA)
