Qatar Celebrates the Arab Water Day Sunday

Doha, March 02 (QNA) -Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) is to celebrate tomorrow, Sunday ,3rd of March of each year, the Arab Water Day, held under the Arab League s title of " Water is our life and the future of our generations, Let us act to keep its Sustainability" This year's celebration reflects the importance of preserving water resources in achieving water security and to bolster the integration of the Arab world s developmental plan related to water resources and food security. The State of Qatar represented by Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) celebrates the venet out of its belief of the importance of water as the basic pillar for supporting the economic and urban progress in qatar and out of its firm commitment to proceed firmly towards achieving qatar national vision 2030. Kahramaa also confirmed its constnt commitment according to sustainable development and preservation of the environment to cooperate with all bodies, ministries and national institutions concerned with upgrading and development of the water sector under the umbrella of "the Standing Committee of Water Resources" in an effort to achieve the objectives of the National Development Strategy 2011 2016 which calls for the achievement of the management system of integrated and sustainable water sector,effectively, consistently with Qatar National Vision 2030 and Qatar National Development Strategy 2011-2016. It is noted that Doha hosted the 10th GCC Water Conference, as a sign of Qatar s keenness to encourage GCC cooperation. The conference took place on April 22-24, 2012. (QNA)
