Qatar Career Fair: Qatar Airways to Offer Over 100 New Positions for Qatari Nationals

Doha, March 31 (QNA) - Qatar Airways today announces over 100 new positions will be up for grabs for nationals as the carrier prepares to take part in the Qatar Career Fair which starts in the capital tomorrow. Announcing the initiative on the eve of the week-long recruitment event, the national airline said it was offering positions across the business including its subsidiaries and the countrys new aviation gateway - Hamad International Airport. A three-fold increase on last year’s offering, the new positions are available in different fields including commercial, finance, operations, administration, human resources, marketing, information technology, corporate planning and ground services. The recruitment includes jobs for fresh graduates to join a 22-month rotation programme between departments and an aviation management scheme for those already in employment yet with no industry experience but looking for a career change into the sector. All the positions are exclusively available to Qataris with applications encouraged through the career section of the airlines website at www.qatarairways.com/nationalisation The Qatar Career Fair takes place at the. Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha from April 1 - 6, where the national airline will have its largest presence at this year’s edition of the annual recruitment event. Qatar Airways double-storey stand is located in the Business and Finance section of the Career Fair, namely BF P03. Staff from Qatar Airways Nationalization Department, together with senior management from across the company will be on hand at the stand to talk to potential employees over the course of the six days about the exciting array of jobs available across the airline and its subsidiaries. Job seekers will be able to apply for positions online and, if pre-selected, will be invited for interview at the event. News of the job creation drive comes just weeks after Qatar Airways announced its biggest ever recruitment campaign for the 2013/14 financial year for Qatari students with 150 places on offer to undergraduates and graduates covering both internships and scholarships. Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said this week’s career fair comes at an appropriate time for the airline as the country prepares for the opening of the brand new Hamad International Airport. "Our country’s aviation industry is going through momentous transformation as we open a brand new international airport to cope with the rapid expansion of Qatar Airways," he said. "So what better time for this huge recruitment drive for Qatari nationals during the forthcoming Qatar Career Fair as our industry gears up for this historic development. This is a moment of pride for Qataris in our beloved nation and we at Qatar Airways are injecting a lot of resource into creating jobs for nationals and nurturing them as part of the countrys 2030 National Vision for sustained growth. "With over 100 jobs available during the next financial year, this demonstrates the commitment by Qatar Airways in offering talented Qataris a rewarding career with the national airline. We are one of the countrys biggest employers, with over 27,000 people currently working across the group, a figure that will rise sharply over the next few years in line with the airlines aggressive growth and expansion." Chairman of Qatar Airways Nationalization Department Mohsen Alshayef said: "Qatar Airways has a long-term commitment to bring Qatari nationals onboard with an exciting variety of roles within our diverse organization. There is no company in Qatar that has such an assortment of roles across a number of subsidiaries that would appeal to people of different backgrounds so ultimately making us the company of choice." Qatar Airways Nationalization Vice President Dr. Kholode Al-Obaidli added: "This year Qatar Airways will have its biggest ever participation at the Career Fair with tremendous opportunities for candidates to explore with our colleagues on our stand from across the organization. "We encourage potential employees to engage in dialogue with our staff at the Career Fair. Among the new schemes being offered are the graduate rotation programme where Qataris can decide which discipline they want to follow during a 22-month programme moving between departments. This training will involve our strategic partners such as Boeing, Airbus and our industry body International Air Transport Association. "Our aviation management programme is an exciting scheme enabling freshers to our industry to undergo two years of training and gear them up for managerial roles in the company that can ultimately be at head office or overseas at many of our international offices. We will be encouraging online applications onsite for all the positions on offer to simplify the tracking process." Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 16 years of operations, currently flying a modern fleet of 122 aircraft to 125 key business and leisure destinations worldwide. Over the next few weeks and months, Qatar Airways will launch services to a diverse portfolio of new routes, including Chicago, USA (April 10); and Salalah, Oman (May 22); Basra, Iraq (June 3); and Sulaymaniyah, Iraq (August 20), Chengdu, China, at a date to be announced with many more new destinations planned.
