Qatar Cancer Society Launches New Website
Doha, December 31 (QNA) - HE Sheikh Dr. Khalid Bin Jabor Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) launched today the revamped QSC website: www.qatarcancersociety.org.
In what represents a step-forward in its battle against cancer, QCS starts the year 2013 with the launch of one of the most informative portals on cancer in the region.
Commenting on the new initiative, HE Sheikh Dr. Khalid Bin Jabor Al Thani said: "As we strive to present the best solutions to our community, the launch of qatarcancersociety.org will serve as an information portal to guide patients, survivors, physicians, and knowledge-seekers through cancer and cancer treatment and prevention methods. The interactive features provided by the website will help users register for vaccines, take appointments, and ask for consultation through a click of a mouse."
The less-fortunate cancer patients may be eligible for financial assistance from the Qatar Cancer Society. All patients need to do is register their details on a pre-set form and upload. QCS will be in contact with patients in a short period of time to discuss the case. Patients might also send any relevant documents to info qatarcancersociety.org or to fax no.: +974 44478102.
qatarcancersociety.org also provides tips on how to adopt a healthy lifestyle that can decrease the risks of getting cancer.
The Grand Hyatt Doha hotel was the host of the press conference announcing the launch of the qatarcancersociety.org. The support is an integral part of an active health and community awareness strategy aimed by the luxury hotel.
The Grand Hyatt Doha has become a major partner with QCS in the battle against cancer. Previously, Doha's luxury address has helped in organizing a "RUN FOR CURE" event earlier in October, which came in support of the "Global Breast Cancer Awareness Month". Last week, Grand Hyatt Doha was home to the unveil of the nationwide "Think Again" campaign, which aims at spreading awareness among the local female community in Qatar on cervical cancer. GlaxoSmithKline partners with QCS in executing the "Think Again" campaign.
Research shows that following a healthy diet, maintaining a healthy weight, quitting smoking and drinking alcohol, staying protected under the sun, etc. are all factors that can prevent a number of cancer diseases. The new website features information on how to stick to a number of rules that will aid people in preventing cancer.
In what represents a beacon of light, Amira Lamey, a breast cancer survivor tells her story to qatarcancersociety.org, highlighting the fact that her perseverance and stamina have helped her overcome the disease. Amira's message to all cancer patients is to stay strong and never lose hope in the battle against cancer.
The new website also guides enthusiasts who would like to either donate or volunteer through a process on how to dedicate some of their time and donations to fighting cancer. (QNA)
